Question

Import from Mac Aperture (3.6) into Lightroom Classic (11.3.1)

I am just in the process of switching fom Apple Aperture (v3.6) to Lightroom Classic (v11.3.1)

Aperture is running on one Mac with OS 10.13.6

Lightroom Classic is running on another Mac with OS 12.3.1

Aperture will not run on the newer Mac/OS. Lightroom will not install on the older Mac/OS.

My complete Aperture library has approx 140k pictures (referenced) so I have splut the library into parts.

Now I want to use the Lightroom plug-in. I am following the instrutions posted by Adobe.

In the dialog I select the library file and the destination folder. I also select the options as described.

But then the field "Number of picture/video files" and "required disk space" (I do not know the exact english names as I am using the German version) do not show any values but only show <undefined> (see attached screenshot) and the "Import" button remain greyed-out.

Any ides how I can get the import to work?

Thanks a lot!

The built-in Aperture/iPhoto Importer Plugin is very buggy. It sounds like you've read that you have to split your Aperture library into smaller pieces, but even then, you'll get mysterious hangs and incomplete imports.  There are other threads here about the greyed-out Import button, but I don't see any solutions:

I recommend you give the Avalanche program a try -- a fair number of people have reported that it quickly and correctly imports Aperture libraries into LR:

It costs 59, but how much do you value your time and your photos?

You say that the Aperture library has referenced pictures. That means that the pictures are not inside the library, but elsewhere. Is that location available to Lightroom? Are the pictures still where the Aperture library says they are? If the answer to one of these questions is negative, then that a explains why the plugin can't work.
