Question

import image(s)

I'm a day and a half into LrC, oh brother.  Can I import images from my 'G' (spare) drive,  edit them, and then import them In "Destination" into the same folder?  I'm pretty sure "ADD" is already highlighted. I think I clicked "COPY," "DEVELOPE" did one sharpen. The "Import" button on the bottom right never did light up.

I did watch 2 videos on this, AND took notes. Just couldn't get "IMPORT" at the bottom right to light up.

If you want the image files to STAY on the G:Drive- then you DO use the [ADD] option in the Import dialog.

The [ADD] option in Import leaves your images where they reside and simply adds a reference (preview) in the Library.

(Your image files are NEVER 'IN' Lightroom-Classic. They are where you place them.)

Understandable that the [Import] button does not light up if you are trying to [Copy] the image files into the same folder where they already exist.  The 'Destination'panel will only show in the Import dialog if you are Copying [Copy] or Moving [Move]  the files to another Drive or fdolder.

You could start your learning with the free eBooks from the Lightroom Queen-  https://www.lightroomqueen.com/

I think you have a bit more reading to do - your workflow above doesn't make sense for LrC.

Maybe watch a few youtube videos...

Basically - import, edit, export JPG/TIF to email/print/social media, etc is a typical workflow.

Once imported, images stay in your LrC catalogue 'forever' and can have further edits, roll-back edits, etc, then re-exported as needed/as your tastes change.
