Import Issues

Hello-
I am experiencing something today that in all my years of using Lightroom hasn’t happened before. When I attempt to download images from my SD card using the import dialogue box, in the destination pane it shows the folder it is about to create and the images that are going to go into it. However, when I click the import button, I get a dialogue box that states “could not copy the file to the destination folder because it is not writable”. I have a list of folders a mile long from previous imports, but today for some reason it decides it does not want to import my files any longer. I haven’t made any changes that I am aware of, so this is a mystery to me. oddly enough, if I change the destination to a folder which already exists, the images are imported there with no problem. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

“could not copy the file to the destination folder because it is not writable"

Make sure that you have the destination folder set to write permission. Make sure you have not accidentally changed the destination folder. Make sure the destination folder actually exists.

Thanks for the response. When you import files into Lightroom, it creates a
folder for the files based upon their capture date. The folder is created
at the time of import and is a sub folder. If I import into an existing
folder, the import goes in as expected; (however, this is not what I want
to do, as Lightroom has always created the folders previously). Since
importing into an existing folder goes without a hitch, the issue of read
only status is not applicable.
