Question

Import Not Selecting "New Photos"

Greeings! I'm having the following imprt issue (screen grab attached for illustration):

  • I imported 10k iPhone pics (JPGs, HEIC & PNG files) using "Copy as DNG"
  • After the import, I spot checked and saw not all the images were imported (a lot of JPGS)
  • To import missing photos, I tried to reimport (same origin and destination folders) using "New Photos" filter selection. However,  "New Photos" aren't being selected...ALL the photos in folder are being selected (altough most have already been imported). I've restarted. I've toggled diff destination folders, etc. No luck.

Any feedback is greatly appeciated. TY!

If 'Do Not Import Suspected Duplicates' is turned on up futher, I suspect the change to DNG is fooling the very basic test for duplicates.

Hi Sean, TY for that tip. So sorry I'd see that! So it sort of worked...

A large number of images were selected and imported. However, spot checking again, I see images that did not import. Using "Do Not Import Suspected Duplicates" doesn't reveal any unimported images athough I can see them in the folder origin folder and not in my catalog.

Is there a next level tool/process to filter images that have not been copied to a catalog in a folder with images that have been copied? I feel like this is something I'd looking to do often.

PS I'm a Fuji guy too! Thanks for your help!

Not really. Do Not Import Suspected Duplicates is about it. And it's basic, centered around the original filename, date and filesize. Assuming you've not imported anything since, the last import should still be visible in the Catalog panel. It may be a case of biting the bullet, deleting the iPhone photos in the catalog and starting again. Unless you've a specific reason for importing as DNG, I'd leave them as original.
