import photo from desktop

i try to import two photos from the desktop but they are grayed out and say suspected duplicate--however they are not in my lightroom?

    Then you need to figure out why Lightroom thinks tihs is a duplicate. The most obvious thing to do is to search your entire Lightroom Library Module for photos with the same file name. You want to click on All Photographs and turn off filters before you do the search.
