Import Raw files and xmp from Photo Mate R3

Hello, apologies if this has been answered elsewhere, but a search did not show anything.

I have loads of raw files which were edited on Photo Mate (R2 and R3), and I was wondering how / if it was possible to import them into Lightroom 6 with the edits contained in the xmp sidecar file? The raws and xmp are in the same folder, LR shows the ratings applied in Photo Mate but not any of the edits, I've tried right clicking and "Read metadata from file", but the edits still don't appear.

Is it an issue with the format of the xmp used in Photo Mate?

Many thanks in advance

John

XMP sidecar files are normally program specific. The edits made and stored in XMP files are not normally transferable for one program to another from a different software company.

The only way to get those images into LR with the edits you already made in that other program is to export, Save, them as TIFF files then import both RAW and TIFF's into the LR catalog.

The RAW files will be as shot and the tiffs will have the edits.

Many thanks for the rapid answer,

I was suspecting that the formats may be different.

    Kind regards
