Question

Import skipping random files with no warnings

So I've discovered that Lightroom just decides to NOT import files, without informing me.
It acts as though everything worked just fine, and I'll go ahead and format my card and go shooting for a few days. Later, I discover that it simply didn't import everything. Skipped random images, or just didn't import ANY videos, etc. Immediately after an import, I'll remove the card, reinsert it, and it'll magically find a hundred+ images it didn't bother importing the first time. I'll sometimes have to do this several times to get ALL the files off a card. I've lost SO many photos to this over the last year. At first I thought I was just being careless, but no, this is a HUGE bug, and has thrown a lot of my content out the window.

PLEASE tell me there's a fix on the way.
I am just beyond words.

While this is apparently not your workflow, how about trying this out as a diagnostic step.

Outside of Lightroom Classic, copy the photos to your hard drive. See if all the photographs and videos copy correctly. Failure could indicate an issue with your SD card, your SD card reader, or the USB cable between reader and computer (if external reader)

Then in Iightroom Classic, accomplish your import using ADD. Once again watching for issues. If some do not import, then more needs to be looked at. If some import but look odd, possible corrupt photos , possible corrupt SD card.
