Question

Import Sluggish on Monterey

been trying to solve this issue on my 3-mo newly bought MacBook Pro v12.4. It's been working fine before, until recently that preview on import is not working at all. Tried several tips on finding out the problem but no luck. Just today, tried giving full access via System Pref and same result after a reboot.

I even re-formatted the computer and same.

Here are some other findings:

Open a new catalog, tried importing ~100 pictures. Still slow.

On my MacBook Air v11.6, import goes normal using the same catalog.

So, what could be wrong on my MBP? I'm almost at the point of giving up LR, but my entire catalog for decades is on it.

Try:

  • As you stated, place the images on your hard drive outsise of LrC
  • Make sure Face Rec and Address Look are paused
  • Make sure no Sync is occuring
  • Make sure the preference setting for standard preview is not huge.
  • Select minimum preview creation on import
  • Do not apply any presets at import
  • Import using ADD

thanks, just tried those again and no luck.

when i formatted my MBP, i followed that with a sync from my MBAir, and did compare side by side, the MBP on v12 is very slow when loading images while on Import window.

likely OS issue but how/why?

How do you import? Do you connect the camera? Do you use a built-in SD card reader of the MBP? Try a fast separate card reader to see if that makes a difference.

- on usb drive

- on external ssd

- directly connected phone via cable

all no difference.
