Question

Import Star-rating from backup

Hi there,
I had a broken catalogue, afterwards Lightroom "repaired" the catalogue.
Now the star- and colorratings from my most recently used folders are missing. Everything is rated with zero stars.

I made a backup yesterday, is it possible to import just the starratings from my backup?

Because i dont want to loose the editing progress that i have made since then.

Thank you for any help!

Best regards Valentin

It's possible, though it would take at least an hour or more figuring out the details of these steps:

1. Open the backed-up catalog.

2. Select the photos whose rating you want to transfer.

3. Use the LR/Transporter plugin to export a CSV file containing the file names and the ratings. (There are easier ways to export that CSV file, e.g. with the List View plugin, but if you only want to buy one plugin, LR/Transporter will do.)

4. Open the current catalog.

5. Use LR/Transporter to import the ratings from the CSV file into the  matching photos.

No, that is not possible. It's all metadata or nothing, you can't select what part of the metadata is imported and what isn't.
