Question

imported files in illogical order

Using windows explorer I made a new folder where I pasted 75 or so images from a larger folder of a real estate photo shoot.  Prior to importing them to LR, I (again using windows) renamed all the photos in the new folder numerically to keep them in a certain order i.e.  101, 103, 105...I left gaps in the numbers in case I later needed to insert other images I could still keep them in the order i wanted.  I then imported all the images in the into LR but when finished importing, the images were in total disarray  like   188, 208, 113...  Of course I was able to click and drag them back to the original order but that took over an hour. Normally, when I've imported images, LR keeps them in the same order they were in the source folder.  Is there a setting I missed when importing?  Alternately, seeing how the images where sequentially numbered was there a  short cut I could have used?

    And if the Tool bar is visible (toggled by T ) with the {Sorting} option checked (in the Tool bar options)-

    You have the menu for sorting (as from the master menu)

    And you can invert the Sort order-

    Regards. My System: Windows-11, Lightroom-Classic 15.4.1, Photoshop 27.8, ACR 18.4, Lightroom 9.4, Lr-iOS 10.4.0, Bridge 16.0.3 .

    I'd be using an Import preset to perform exactly that renaming task. Would that work for you?

    Leaving numbering gaps is not an option in Lightroom though . . .

    Use the menu command View->Sort
