imported photos are just blurred lines

Recently inherited a laptop with much better speed and capabilities than my old one, I installed LR and PS on it and this morning I tried to import some pictures I took yesterday. When they are uploaded they are distorted and blurred lines. I imported a few on my old laptop to make sure it wasnt a card issue and they are fine on old computer. Anyone else have this issue before?
