Question

Importing from iPhone 17 into LRC

How do I do this?

WHen I try to import, with my iPhone plugged into my Mac, the Destination does not show up in the Import Module in LRC 15.3.1.    If I try to save or import from iCloud, all the photos show up as HEIC files, and are greyed out.   I have several hundred photos on the iPhone 17 that I’d like to import into LR. I’ve done some work on them using SnapSeed, but I prefer Lightroom.

Hi, @coachgns, some questions: were the photos taken with the iPhone’s Camera or with Adobe Lightroom app? Next, if the were taken with AppleRAW or are you not sure? If they were taken with Lightroom Mobile, were they saved as raw images or not?

BTW, hint: if you use LRM, you’re images are created in raw in the first place.

Thanks for reply.   THe photos were taken with the iPhone Camera.  A few years ago I downloaded the LR app & it seemed pretty useless so I stopped using it. Maybe it does more now.   I don’t believe they were taken in RAW - they all showed up as HEIC files.

I have figured out a way to get them into LRC. Maybe its not the easiest way but it worked.  I was able to EXPORT them from iCloud to my desktop & then import into LR.  I did about 6 or so at a time.   THey mixed in nicely timewise with my DSLR photos in that LR folder.
