Importing groups of images

My apologies if there is an answer out there for this but I couldn't find one. Is there a way to select specific group of images for import that are located within a larger folder without having to go through them individually? For example, say I have 1000 images and I only want to import #400-#800 but I don't want to have to check each image individually. How can I select only those without having to check them one by one? Is that possible? Thanks in advance for any help!

    1. Uncheck All
    2. Select first dimmed image e.g. #400; then hold down shift and select #800
    3. With the block highlighted put a checkmark in the first thumbnail and all the highlighted photos will be checked
    4. Click Import
