Question

importing jpegs from lr cc to lrc loses metadata

trying to import edited jpegs from lightroom cloud to lightroom classic, ironically for better export settings. exported from lightroom cloud with ‘original + settings,’ yet when importing to lrC, no metadata seems to have transfered (photo is unedited).
am i forced to export as full quality jpg? with a base file in .jpg format, is this equivalent to exporting with ‘original + settings’?

thanks

A quick test just now shows that exporting Raw files from LrD (there’s no longer any app called LrCC) using Original + Settings did, as expected, export a copy of the raw file plus the XMP sidecar file. On import to LrC both added metadata and the develop settings were applied. However, when exporting a Jpeg from LrD with the same Original + Settings, the resulting Jpeg does include any metadata added in Lightroom but does not bake in the edits.

IIRC, this issue was reported recently but I’m not certain if it is regarded as a bug or “as designed”.

Exporting from Lightroom (Cloud based) is not necessary.

Simply turn on [Sync] in Lightroom-Classic and all photos in the Cloud will automatically download into the LrC catalog and Local folders (Folders as specified in Preferences > Sync. :Do this FIRST!)

Once they appear in the LrC catalog, edits will sync both ways. LrC<>Lr.

Sync DOWN from Lr will download any full-size files.

Sync UP from Collections in LrC will upload proxy (smaller smart Previews) to the Cloud.

Some things do not sync! Edits will.

@Rob_Cullen Turning on sync will download all Lightroom images into Lightroom Classic. The OP might not want that.

@carter.c Exporting as ‘Original + Settings’ should work. It works for me. Try exporting as DNG.
