Question

Is it possible to add images back into a publish service after reinstalling

As you know there was a bit of problem with several social media platforms yesterday.  Unfortunately when I was in Lightroom trying to publish images to Instagram I didn't know this at the time.

I have the LR/Instagram plugin which has worked very well for me.  When I couldn't publish yesterday I uninstalled the plugin and then reinstalled it again.

The photos I publish are a bit random over years of travel around the Greek islands so it is really useful to keep the published images so I don't try to duplicate them.

Anyway after reinstalling all of the published images have disappeared from the publish collection.  Is there anyway to get them back into the published status without having to actually republish them all again and messing up my already existing instagram posts?

Any help with this will be much appreciated.

Actually I think the OP is saying that he removed the images from the appropriate spot in the Publish service. In other words, he removed images from a collection.

He did not delete the Plug-in. He did not remove the Publish Service in question.

Depending on what service you are publishing to, You can probably accomplish a sync. From the Publish Service in Lightroom. As long as you did not remove the actual images from your catalog or rename them.

    Hi David

It is the plugin I uninstalled and reinstalled it again - thinking the problem was with the plugin and not Instagram.  When I did reinstall it all record of previously published images had disappeared.  It's not biggie - just a bit of an inconvenience but I'll work around it.

Normally, uninstalling and reinstalling a publishing plugin won't do anything to your published collections or their relationship with the publish service.  I recommend you contact the developer of the plugin, if you're using this plugin: LR/Instagram - Lightroom Publish Plugin for Instagram .

Hi John.  Sorry I should have been clearer - it as probably a silly question in the first place.  Uninstalling and reinstalling the plugin is fine.  What this action did is remove a record of all of the previously published images.  This means that if I go to publish an image that has already been published it will be a duplicate - previously because they were marked as published Lightroom would know they had already been published.  What I've decided to do is colour mark every image that I publish in Lightroom so there is no duplication in the future.

Uninstalling and reinstalling the plugin is fine.  What this action did is remove a record of all of the previously published images.

That shouldn't happen. When you uninstall a publishing plugin, there will still be an entry for all of its published collections in the Publish Services panel on the left:

You can click on any of the published collections and see all the photos that have been published.  When you reinstall the plugin, those published collections and photos should be still there:

It sounds like that didn't happen in your case, which indicates a bug with the plugin.

    Hi stephanieb88038528,

Sorry that Lightroom Instagram Plugin is not working after the recent issues with Social media websites.

Could you please take a look at the steps mentioned in this article Errors using Publish Services in Lightroom and let us know  if that helps?

    Thanks,

    Hi Akash

I've just replied to John to explain a bit further.  The problem isn't with the plugin but with me deleting it in the first place.  This also deletes the record of all my previously published images.  I just wondered if there is some way of marking the images as published without actually publishing them again.  I've figured probably not so to stop this happening again I'm marking all of my images red.

    Thanks
