Question

Is the a way to move faces to a folder?

I have detected faces in the filmstrip and would now like to be able to drag them to a folder I have created on my d drive and linked to through lightroom. For some reason this doesn't seem possible.

Have I done something wrong?

Thanks

You can do that and it is quite easy.

But there are other and better alternatives to moving all the images with faces being detected in them to one folder on your drive.

In the keyword list section of the right hand panel there is an option to show just all the images that have people in them that the Face Recognition system is LR has detected and or that you have assigned a name to. It is the people option.

Please take a look at this tutorial on using the face detection system in LR.

Organize your photos with facial recognition |

If you still want to place all the images of people in them into one folder on your hard drive this is what to do.

    1) In LR in the "Folders" section on the left hand panel of the Library module if you D drive is there right click on it and select Create Folder Inside D:. A dialog box will pop up, type the name you want to use for that folder and click the Create button.

In the Keyword List section of the right hand panel select the People option near the top it is the center option (If that isn't show click the little triangle to the right of the "Filter Keywords"  box at the top to display it). Now only images that you have give peoples name to will be displayed in the Grid view window. Select All and Drag & Drop to that folder you created.

Hi shaky camera. It sounds like you would like to organize the faces you’ve located into one folder. Have you thought about creating a collection? What is the reason for wanting to move them to the d drive?

It is a friend who is moving abroad and I wanted to give them a copy of all the phostos I had of them.

    Thanks

The quick and easy approach would be to create a collection of these particular images and sync it to your Lightroom mobile. When you sync the collection you can make it public and that will create a link which you can share with your friend. They can then download the images to do as they wish with them. Syncing the collection creates smaller jpgs so as long as they don’t want to make large prints thes jpgs should be fine.

You could select the photos and then Export them to the desired folder.

Putting the originals into a specific folder is not a good idea.
