The problem is with WordPress, not Lightroom.

The reason the keywords don't transfer is that WordPress does not give you a place to put keywords. The screen shot below is of an image uploaded to the standard WordPress Media Library. Take a look at the standard metadata fields provided for an uploaded image by WordPress, which I’ve highlighted in green: URL, Title, Caption, Alt Text, and Description.

Notice that WordPress does not provide a field for Keywords. Even if you have correctly embedded keywords in your images exported from Lightroom, there's nowhere to put them in WordPress, so they don't appear in WordPress.

The way around this is to not use the default WordPress Media Library for images. Instead, manage the images on your WordPress site using a third-party WordPress plug-in that does include a field for keywords (tags), such as the popular NextGEN Gallery. That plug-in also provides a way to create image galleries in WordPress directly from Lightroom collections.

I don't use NextGEN Gallery so I don't know if it's the best, and I can't endorse it or help with it, but it's an example of the kind of WordPress plug-in you'll have to use if you want to import image keywords into WordPress. Whichever plug-in you try, test to make sure it does copy image keywords into its own Tags/Keyword field.

Because this problem is on the WordPress side, it affects keywords in images from any image editing application, not just Lightroom.

    Hi kristaj,

I am not sure about the complete workflow as I have not tested it personally. I found this article helpful for importing metadata from Lightroom into WordPress: New Lightroom Plug-in Uploads Directly to Worpdress | Digital Trends

Let us know if that helps.

    Thanks,

The first step is to check your export settings to make sure keywords are supposed to be exported; and also check the exported photos once they have been exported but BEFORE you put them into Wordpress. Are the keywords present or not?
