Issue when importing back PSB from PS to LrC

Here is my issue process:

 

1/I'm opening a Raw file (sony image) in Ps by exporting it from LrC .

2/I'm making the post in PS and when i save it back, i've a message saying i've to save the file in PSB because of it is to heavy.

--> Up to know all is ok ! Let's do it.

 

Here is the picture (screenshot) :

 

3/ Back in LrC, i've to synchonize the file in order to get the retouched image in my library.

And there is the issue, because here below the image imported.

I've tried to import it without creating dynamic preview. Same Result ! 

For information: i tried to export it from LrC, and unfortunately, jpeg generated is like that...

 

4/ This appears randomly on some images and i can not import them in LrC...

This issue breaks me down.

 

Here are some additional information : 

- LrC and PS  are up to date 

- I'm working on Apple M3Max system

- Images are stock on external Disk.

    I experienced the same- a 92megapixel file ~2.85GigaBytes PSB would not import to LrC.

    I don't have any answers sorry. Keep asking the question for more knowledgable people to chime in.

     

    I am still curious- Why do you need such a large pixel dimension image? Are you increasing the canvas or image size larger than the original raw in Ps?

    I use a Sony a7rV at 60 MP, and it doesn't take much to push that over the 2GB limit. A handful of layers and a smart object or two is enough. It happens so often that I now try to save as PSB right away to save the trouble.

     

    What would make this much easier is an option to set PSB as default in LrC External Editing.

     

    With these file sizes I find it absolutely impossible to have any compression on. It increases open and save times so much that I simply don't have time to sit around and wait for it. It's an interesting paradox: compression is only useful for small files where you don't need it.

      Don't Export and Import. Instead try using the designed LrC workflow using [EDIT-IN Photoshop].

      Then in Ps [SAVE] (and [CLOSE] ) the photo that will return to the LrC catalog.

      What might you be doing in Ps to make your image 'BIG'  PSB?   (PSB = Photoshop Big file).

       

      And there is this-

      "Lightroom Support for PSB is currently limited to files whose long edge does not exceed 65K pixels or the entire image is less than 512 Megapixels and it must be saved in Max Compatibility. Photoshop is capable of exceeding these values."

      Hi Rob'

       

      In fact that's what i'm doing (edit in Ps from LrC). But time to time when file is big, saving as to be done as PSB. ANd file doesn"t go back automaticaly to LrC.

      That's why i have to import (or synchronize folder to be more specific).

       

      Regarding the reason why file is big, i don't really know, i just edit it properly...

      To be clear, Photoshop doesn't save "back" to Lightroom. It just saves to disk. But "edit in Photoshop" runs a background script that tracks the file and automatically adds it to the Lightroom catalog at the location it's saved to. For this to work, both applications need to be open through the process.

       

      If you don't see it, maybe you have a sort order that puts it at the end of the filmstrip?

       

      It happens that the connection between the applications is broken, in which case a reinstall is in order. The order is important; Photoshop first, Lightroom second.
