Issue with developing cr2 files from lightroom classic

I import my cr2 files from my canon 1dx mark 1 directly into lightroom without issues. However, when I click on the preview thumbnail then click develop, all of a sudden the photo almost looks like a jpeg (normally it looks like the flat raw file). When I go to make basic adjustments with the sliders (especially the shadows) I notice i'm not getting the information out of them that I normally get out of a raw file.

I've tried everything- uninstalling and reinstalling, updating computer software to macOS ventura, using the adobe dng converter, resetting preferences, etc..

I'm desperate for a solution since I have a whole catalog of photos from a trip that I need to process, but obviously I want to work with the raw file data, which I can tell it's not really giving me.

First, try disabling GPU in the preferences (Performance). Any better?

If not, recalibrate and build a new ICC display profile; the old one might be corrupted. If you are using software/hardware for this task, be sure the software is set to build a matrix, not LUT profile, Version 2, not Version 4 profile.

If turning OFF the GPU works, it's a GPU bug, and you need to contact the manufacturer or find out if there's an updated driver for it. This is why disabling GPU is an option as more and more functionality moves to the GPU in newer versions of many Adobe products. Disable third-party graphics accelerators. Third-party GPU overclocking utilities and haxies aren't supported.

If the GPU and display profile isn't causing the problem, see:

Hi Simon,

Since you are going from your camera into LR Classic and Photoshop is not involved, I have moved your post from Photoshop to Lightroom Classic for you.
