Issue with filenames

Question

I notice a strange difference between the actual filename of a picture (as I can see it in the Windows explorer) and the name that Lightroom Classic shows me.
A picture named (for example) "filename_025.jpg" (as shown in Windows) turns into "filename_025-2.jpg" in Lightroom.
When I try to edit this filename on the right side in the metadata area by removing the "-2" there, the name instantly turns into "filename_025-3.jpg".
And when I try to solve the issue by synchronizing the folder (right click on the folder in the directory structure on the left side) Lightroom crashes completely and reproducibly.
Has anyone an idea what I can do to solve this issue (which only appears in one specific folder of my file and directory structure)?

So the solution is to find the duplicate filename and decide how you want to adjust the conflicting filenames so that they are different. Or remove one from that folder if the duplicate image is unintentional and unwanted.

Or do nothing, you can leave the file with the -2 name unchanged and LrC will work fine.

I agree, I have only seen that happen when there is a duplicate filename conflict in a specific folder, which the OS will not allow so Lightroom Classic tries to automatically resolve the conflict by adding a number to the filename to make the filename unique in that folder. So the solution is to find the duplicate filename and decide how you want to adjust the conflicting filenames so that they are different. Or remove one from that folder if the duplicate image is unintentional and unwanted.
