Question

Issue with LR 3

I recently upgraded my computer to an HP Pavilion All in One. The LR3

version I have seemed to work ok for a couple of weeks until this last

weekend when I imported photos from a wedding and some of the photos

uploaded as if they were corrupt. (See attachment).

I immediately took the camera cards to my laptop and looked at the card

there and the photos were alright. Nothing wrong with them. Why are some

of the photos all of a sudden importing like this.

Thank you for your help.

This is a corrupted RAW image. The corruption happens because of some hardware malfunction. It could be the camera card, transfer hardware, hard disk or computer memory. You need to try to isolate which piece of hardware is causing this problem, you can try importing the photo again using different hardware, and if possible, importing to a completely different computer.

The reason other applications don't see this is that they are showing you the JPG preview in the file, that is often un-corrupted even when the RAW itself is corrupted.

Thank you.   I did import it to my laptop (on LR3) and all the impages imported perfectly fine.  I am going to try getting a different card reader (although the one I have is brand new) and see what happens.  I did end up purchasing LR6 and after my catalog had transferred everything over, the corrupt files were still there.   I went ahead and I removed the files affected from LR (from the disk) and I re-imported them and they appeared to import okay.  I still have to go into the files to see if anything happens once I access the image.

Thank you for your quick response.   (And I apologize for the phone numbers....I did not notice they were there when I sent the email)
