Issue with virtual copy edits writing to both the virtual copy and the original

Thank you to anyone who might be able to help.

I edited several images in Photoshop.  Once those edits were saved in Lightroom I made virtual copies of them so that I could make black and white versions.  I absentmindedly imported the originals into Photoshop, did the black and white edits,  and saved them.  The black and white edit wrote to both the original and the copy.  Is there any way to get the original color version back?

No, unless you have a backup of the Photoshop original. BTW: A virtual copy is just a set of extra metadata, belonging to the same original. That is why it changed to B&W too when you changed the original to B&W.

Okay thank you, that is what I thought.  Guess I better get back to re-editing them all.

Were these JPEG/TIFF or Raw files?
