Issues with new MacBook Pro

I just got a new MacBook Pro. I've tried to open LR C but it crashes before it ever opens. Does anyone have any ideas? If I uninstall will I loose all my presets and settings? Everything is updated to the latest version.

Hi, we're sorry about the trouble! I see you've used a Time machine backup to transfer things to your new Mac. We do not recommend that as it may cause issues.

Please try re-installing the application using the Creative Cloud desktop app and check if you experience the same behavior.
If you don't have a backup of your presets, or have them on your old computer, you can check out this folder location to copy the XMP files over.

Macintosh HD > Users > (Your User name) > Library > Application Support > Adobe > Camera Raw > Settings.

Note: If you don't see the Library folder, you can unhide it using the keyboard shortcut Command + Shift + .

Let us know if this helps!
Thanks,
Nikunj

You gave me the idea to try a previous catalog and that crashes as well. It actually doens't even open. It is just an instant crash report window.

I used my Time Machine to transfer everything to my new laptop. Before that I had backed up my catalog. I tried just opening it then I tried opening it from the latest back up. Should I try opening it a previous backup?

Please describe how you transitioned your Lightroom Classic (catalog and previews) folder from the old computer to the new. Do you have recent backups?

In my recent experience, what you are describing is likely caused by corruption of the catalog (.lrcat) file that LrC is trying open.
