Issues with select object/ subject masking

I don't get a formal error message, but the masking simply doesn't work - it gives a couple of random red blotches that are nowhere near the subject. This is on a new computer (XPS 15) that is exactly like the old computer it replaced, except with more memory. On the old computer, the masking works fine! 

 

Has anyone else experienced this? Ideas on what to do? I've checked for driver updates, I've created a new Lightroom catalog, I've checked for Lightroom updates.

Please post your System Information as Lightroom Classic (LrC) reports it. In LrC click on Help, then System Info, then Copy. Paste that information into a reply. Please present all information from first line down to and including Plug-in Info. Info after Plug-in info can be cut out as that is just so much dead space to us non-Techs and it takes up vast amounts of scroll space making the reply less readable and less likely that others will bother with your post. Also large amounts of text in a post also render the Translate function inoperable...

That odd GPU in apparently a laptop may be too old, too incapable for AI in LrC. Not sure about the driver (looks like that one was released on 6/11/2024, is it the latest???). You might see what happens, if you turn off Auto, and select Custom, When you select Custom, select each option one followed by another starting at the top. Goal is to make it all the way down to Supports Export. Some find that works, some state baloney.

 

 

 

Also, your Camera RAW CACHE setting (limit) is too o small. Even Adobe states to not go with the default 5 GB. Try at least 20 GB. THe more photos in a current edit session,the bigger that may need to be. But even for just a few photos, 5 GB is too small. This effects Develop Module Performance. Probably nothing to do with your mask issue.
