keeping photos in middle of the screen as advance

How do I keep my photos in the middle of the screen as I move from one to another?

I find that if the first one is in the middle of the screen, the next is at the top and have to keep dragging it down to view all of it.

How can I view them all in the same position as I scroll through them?

I am seeing something. With the Zoom click to center enabled or not wherever I click off of center it comes close to being in the center of the screen. This could be a bug or not.

With that zoom to center enabled the spot I click is placed in the center of the screen. Even if 90% of the image is off the screen

But I believe your problem is not with that at all. If I zoom into any part of an image and then select a different image in the Film Strip, without first Zooming out (FIT view), the next image is zoomed into that same area. I think this is by design.

So before you switch to the next, to another, image first zoom out.

You can do that several different ways. With the mouse, the z key or if zooming is the last thing you did, or if you want to zoom back out to FIT, use the space bar.

I'm of the opinion all of this is by design and it is something you need to get use to.

Also if you want to Zoom in and back out with one click of the mouse then Click and Hold the mouse button. The image will zoom in at the point you clicked and when you let go of the mouse button it zooms back out.

As Just Shoot Me has already indicated, a screen shot  would help. In meantime, check whether the preference for 'Zoom clicked point to center' is enabled. If it is then disable as shown in below screen shot

I have ticked the zoom clicked point to centre and will see next time I import some photos.

The current imported photos have already been sorted and cropped/developed so the butterflies are in the right position. next time if I have an issue will look to see re screen shots, although don't know how to do this at this stage.

My issue was with the butterflies that were not all taken in the centre of the photo and hence when viewed at 1/1, if the one viewed was in the centre, the next one was at the top and the top half out of screen shot, so had to pull it to the centre and then the next one at the bottom of the screen and the bottom half outside the screen shot. This is what I meant.

In that case, best you have 'Zoom clicked to center' enabled (checked). This way, when you click on the 'subject' it will zoom in the center of your screen.

Going to need to see a screen shot of this.

Never had that happen on any of my systems or the many versions of LR I've used for 10+ years.
