keywords in LR CC classic, 7.4 don't show up on adjoining jpg files

I have  set my preferences to ' treat  jpg next to Raw files as separate photos'.   when I  created the photos, I think I only looked at the RAW files.

eg, the preference setting above was unchecked.    So if I have a RAW image selected, I see my keywords.  if i look at the matching jpeg file, there are no keywords displayed in the keywork box , on the right panel.    If I select multiple images,  I see all the keywords in the box, and there are no *, indicating that the keywords are applied to only some of the photos.    How can I fix this without manually applying to each jpeg file?  there are hundred's of them.   I don't think this is a 7.4 problem?

thanks you

ps.  i'm working on a mac with High Sierra 10.13.6, and all the latest Adobe software from the cloud photo subscription.

I have some catalogs where I have both RAW and jpeg  photos ( I had that setting in my camera) { but only just RAW in recent years]

I want to rename the photos so they are not DSC_xxxx and use  metadata tool in LR so I don't lose all the edit info.   Is there another way to do. that ?

If i don't show them in the catalog,  I thought they would not be able to  renamed the actual jpeg photos.  That's why I kept them .

( I guess I could just delete them all ??).

But there is a problem with the keyword window.   When you select multiple photos,  you should see all the used keywords, and there are an asterick * showing the keywords that are not used in all the photos.  .   As I explained above,  the box is only reflecting what is assigned to the first photo in the series.  if it is a RAW file, I see only the keywords for that photo, with no *   .

if I select a series of photos, beginning with a jpeg photo,  the keyword box is empty, even though there are many RAW files in the series.   Does LR just ignore the jpeg files if they are associated with a RAW file?

Normally,  I see all the keywords, some with astericks *, and some without.  I can edit the keyword box,  Remove a asterick,  and the keywords get assigned properly.   Something is wrong, that I can't see  all the keywords.

You say just assign the keywords.  Well I want to jpeg keywords to match the RAW keywords, and i can't do one at a time, as there are hundreds.  Also LR doesn't even show me the keywords, so I can't just remove the *, and apply them.

Well, it works OK for me in 7.4. The only thing that I wonder about is if you are in Grid view when you select all the images, or Loupe view with multiple images selected in the Filmstrip. If the latter, then yes you will only see the keywords for the current image in the Loupe view, so if that image has no keywords that's what you'll see. Just check to make sure you are in Grid view and then you should see all the keywords with asterisks where appropriate.

additional info.   If i select a range of photos, and the first one is a RAW file with key words, then I see the key words associated with the that specific RAW file, not all the key words associated with all the files, AND again, the are no *, indicating key words for only some of the photos.  Which is wrong !!  if I select a range of photos, beginning with a jpeg file,  the keyword box list is empty !!!  for the whole range of photos, yet I know all the RAW files have key words.   Maybe this is a 7.4 issue.  ??  i'm doing a lot of catalog cleanup preparing to migrate to a single  catalog and this is very bad.      Am I doing something wrong.

Thanks,

That is all perfectly normal. If you have jpegs as well as raws in the catalogue, they are treated as completely-separate photos. If you want the jpegs  to have the same keywords, select and keyword them too.

Why do you have both files in the catalogue? Why have you set that preference? Do you have a reason for doing so?
