Question

Keywords with number of photos including them.

Has anyone tried to export a list of keywords from Lightroom including how many photos include each?  I have been using an hierarchical list of natural world keywords, available from https://www.dpreview.com/forums/post/55761334 , and I'd like to know what animals and birds I actually have photos of!  With over 20,000 photos tagged out of a total library of some 150,000, this is not something I can do manually.  Is this something that should be do-able with a plug-in?  I'm using the latest Windows version.

I'm not clear what you're really trying to do,  but why not review the keywords in the Keyword List panel? This shows the keyword and the number of photos assigned to it. You can filter the Keyword List using the little box at the top of the list, so for example you might enter Raptor here to limit the Keyword List to those birds.

You can use plugins like LrTransporter (which is designed to export metadata) and my own ListView (which is a list view in LR which can also export data) to get the data out of LR, though I'm not sure how it would help you. You'll get a lot of data and need the skills in tools like Excel to analyse it.

Thanks for the reply John.  My Natural World Keyword list includes 316,599 Species, with 7 levels of hierachy, so finding an individual bird or animal species when I photograph something new is not easy using the standard Lightroom tools, especially when you consider that each species (as well as all the hierachy levels, Class, Family, Genus etc.) will have a latin name as well as possibly a number of different common names.  I therefore wrote an Access database application to allow me to search much easier.  Now my list of what I've actually taken is "hidden" inside the lightroom keywords so I'd like to export the number of photos against each keyword into my access database so I can easily identify what I've taken in the past and what I haven't.
