Question

Besten Dank vorab.

Just a general comment, I have not tested this on my system as I do not normally do much masking.
In addition, I utilize LrC in it's default mode i.e. I do not select Automatically write Metadata to xmp, nor do I save metadata to the file and therefore depend on the information stored in the Catalog file.

Does that mean the masking features will not function as expected?

If so then this is a bug.

Hello Denis, Thank´s a lot for your message. In fact the automatically write Metadata was disabeld, probably that happens after some updates. And I first thought it was a bug, but now now everything works perfect again 🙂

I also create a new catalog and I hope the problem is fixed...... until the next problem ha ha...

Thank You again for your help!

Welcome to the Lightroom Classic community. I'll help you figure this out.

Where do you store your Lightroom catalog? Is it on the internal drive or an external drive? Does this happen with a specific series of images?

Once you rebuild the masks, manually write the changes to the XMP sidecar by pressing CTRL + S or go to Metadata > Save Metadata to file.

Let me know if this helps,

Thanks!

Hello Sameer K,

Thank You very much for your message. I store the Lightroom catalog on the internal drive an it happens with an Image.

So, I just write the changes manually by pressing CTRL + S and it seems like it works. Is there any way to let make this automatic in Lightroom ?

Thank´s in advance.

Thanks for confirming this helps.

This is a temporary workaround to help you continue working on this. Was the Lightroom catalog upgraded from a previous version to work with Lightroom Classic v12? Try this:

  • Press the Alt (Win) when launching Lightroom Classic.
  • Choose the option to create a new catalog and create a new one on the internal drive.

  • Head to File > Import from Another Catalog, as shown below.

Proceed with merging the (potentially) corrupted catalog into the newly made, internal storage-based catalog.

Please let me know if this helps. Thanks!
