Question

LEICA SL and Lightroom CC tether shooting

Hello,

I am using the latest version of Lightroom, CC classic 7.5, and I work with a Macbook pro using McOS High SIerra 10.13.6. My camera is a Leica SL from 02-2017.

I try to tether my LEICA SL to Lightroom via the Leica USB3 cable and although the picture already taken with the Leica do appear in Lightroom (as if the cards inside the Leica were an external disc), I cannot use the tetherred device. The Leica SL is "not detected" by Lightroom in the dedicated bar. This is probably a simple configuration error, but I spent 2 hours to try to solve it and I did not find the solution. Can someone help me? Many hanks in advance for your help. Regards.

    Hello.

After reflection and a little research, I found a solution.

By going to the Leica official site, I found a plug-in for Lightroom that allows Lightroom to finally recognize the... LEICA SL!

    http://fr.leica-camera.com/Service-Support/Assistance/Downloads?category=128327&subcategory=128336&type=&language=all

(In French, but should be available in English as well)

And now everything works perfectly. I just have to make the settings on my camera but I can trigger from my Macbook Pro directly. and, most importantly, the last image is automatically displayed on the screen fairly quickly.

This is exactly what I wanted, so that my clients could see the result during the Shoot.

I hope it will help those who are looking for such an option.

OK. I just talked to Adobe.

Apparently no chance to see the "tethering mode" available soon for the LEICA SL with Lightroom Classic CC vers. 7.5.

Adobe told me that it certainly will be available... in a future update of Lightroom .

    But no precise information given.

Quite regrettable for a 3 years old camera... Hope Adobe will react soon.

Thanks Just Shoot Me and jao vdL for your answers. You both are right!

Thanks JSM for your answer. So, why did the seller from Leica France tell me that it "does work"...??? Probably it DID work before! I will contact them tomorrow Monday and try to figure out what is going on. And I will complete this subject.

    Thanks again!

It works only for a few select models (S2, M, and S). Leica used to bundle Lightroom with those. Your seller was probably just confused.
