Lightoom classic and Mac mini M1 very very Slow

Hi all, I'm using a Mac Mini M1 with 16 Ram upgraded to Osx Monterey and Lightroom classic on the latest version and it is extremely slow when I want to edit RAW files from my Sony A7 III.
I am a wedding photographer, I make a catalogue for each wedding with 1200 photos approx. and there comes a moment after using it that it gets very slow, to the point that it is impossible to edit with it (to make a crop it takes 30 seconds or more to load the tool, etc). The only way I can use it is to use smart previews in standard mode, with the problem of quality loss.
I've tried formatting the computer, various performance settings and I can't manage to work with it. It is not a problem of the computer, because for other programs it works perfectly.

I would appreciate if someone could give me some advice to improve the performance or if on the contrary, someone can confirm me that it is impossible to work with this equipment and I need something better.

What type of edits are you applying to the images? What size/resolution of monitor are you using?

Also, can you upload a screenshot of Activity Monitor > Memory tab when Lightroom becomes slow. I've highlighted the button to use for uploading images to the forum in attached screenshot and included another screenshot of what we need re Activity Monitor.

I'm using normal presets to edit the color, nothing special.

The screenshot of Activity Monitor is indicating that LrC is running the CPU at 70% yet memory use is relatively low if working in the Develop module. Were you building previews or exporting while taking the screesnhot?

Other things that will impact on your performance is using two displays, especially one being 4K. This a bit much for 16GB, especially as the GPU will use a lot of this shared memory whilst editing in the Develop module. You're also running Photo Mechanic, which accounts for another 4GB plus of the memory shared.

It would have been helpful if the Activity Monitor screesnhot had included the section at the bottom. This area shows how much, if any swap is being used.

Just a thought, make sure the disk drive where the operating system resides has adequate "free space available" i.e. at least 20% total disk 500GB free 100GB.

Yes it's a 1tb ssd and I have 679 Gb available...

How long after importing the 1200 photos (approx) does this happen? It could be that the CPU is still generating previews from the Import process. If that is the case there should be a task bar at the top left under the nameplate indicating that LrC has not yet finished a task.)

Also, please confirm / check / verify that face detection is turned off. (Do not say "I never use face detection". Do not say "I never have turned it on". Confirm/check/verify that it is off.)

Thanks for your response.

This happens 5 - 10 minutes after I start working, sometimes even earlier. Sometimes I create the catalogue and start editing several hours later, so I don't think it's a preview generation problem.

I've checked and the face and address verification is paused, it's something I've never used before. Unless there is some special option to disable it, it's a service that I don't even know how it works.

Do you mean (because you did not say this) that you start editing several hours after the import finished?

Please also confirm / check / verify that synchronizing with the Cloud is turned off.
