Lightroom 2.0 will not export to Photoshop CS3

OK,

So I downloaded and installed lightroom 2.0 this morning and things are not working well.

System: Macpro 2.8, 8 gb ram, os x 10.5.4, nikon d300 raw files

The problem...

It started with Lightroom not exporting any images to photoshop. Doesn't matter if I try to send 1 or 20, I get a spinning beach ball, then nothing. if photoshop is closed it will open it, but nothing gets loaded into it. Plain export, merge to panoramic, edit as smart object, nothing does anything.

Tried in both 32 and 64 bit modes, tried re-installing Lightroom 2.0 from scratch. still nothing. I sent a sample raw file into adobe and am waiting to hear back, but figured I'd see what everyone else thinks as well.

Ok, problem #1 was fixed by re-applying the patch for 10.0.1.

Now for problem #2, the ghost drive issue. I have un-installed LR 2 at least 6 times today. Eventually removing all data sub-directories and registry entries pertaining to Lightroom and Photoshop Lightroom.

Still can't get it to show the edited file back in the proper catalog folder. The file always comes into a ghost drive and synchronize is the only way to get it to appear where it should. Major inconvenience, in fact it so hampers my work flow, that I'm better off using Bridge and forego the advantages of working with LR.

When is this going to be fixed. Adobe staff is no longer posting in this thread. Not a very good sign.

Earlier in this thread, someone said it was well known that you needed CS3 to be able to take advantage of the LR2 functionality. I'm having the same issue #1 as you are having. The difference is that all the choices except Edit are dim on the menu, including importing as a smart object. I assume that is because I don't have CS3. Is that correct?

When I select open a copy with lightroom edits, I immediately see a PSD file in the filmstrip. However, the process indicator doesn't show that anything is happening and never completes. CS2 doesn't open either. I open CS2 manually and find a PSD file in the same folder that the original file is in. I am able to open the image and make changes. When I save, it is still in LR2, but I don't know for sure if the file has my edits from lightroom.

Another work around is to export to the file format you want using export and then open it in CS2 (or CS3). After saving, re-import it into LR2. I know this is clunky, but at least you can still make the edits. You are also assured that the lightroom edits are in your exported file format.

I'm not even getting ghost folders ... which I apparently don't want.

But I just set up PS as the additional editor and that solved my issue.

    Whoops - meant Graduated filter.

I know this is slightly off-topic, but I wanted to say something positive seeing as how this has necessarily been a slightly negative thread. I love the new adjustment brush! It is awesome and has already improved my workflow and results markedly. Still getting used to the density filter, but looks cool.

This problem just cropped up for me two days ago, after having worked fine all along until this point. Very frustrating. If I find any solutions I'll be sure to post them here. Oh, it happens with any file type, too - for example, some tifs I have in my library which were the result of previous "open in photoshop" work. Nothing opens. Photoshop launches and then just sits there.

When will the update for pictures edited in ps3 not showing up in LR3 come?

Kevin...Did you get the email with test information I sent on Friday? Did it help? Do I have a unique situation? It appears this thread is getting into other issues beyond the original #1 and #2.

Thanks Kevin! It is working for me now - you were right - I had added the second editor but wasn't selecting it when editing. All good now. Thanks.
