Lightroom 4.4 and importing Raw Files Issue

I have Lightroom 4.4. I just got a new camera - Sony DSC HX99. It uses the .arw raw format. I checked Adobe support and my camera is listed in the list of supported cameras. Lightroom says it is up to date. Lightroom will not open the camera's files. I was able to locate information that I needed Camera Raw 11.1 and was able to locate, download and install Camera Raw 11.1 it on my computer. I closed and reopened Lightroom, however, Lightroom will still not open the raw files.

Is there something else I need to do to get Lightroom to see the update, or do I need to download something else to get this to work?

Thank you.

The Sony DSC HX99 is a very new camera. It is listed from Lightroom Classic 8.1 onwards. Lightroom does not use Camera Raw (it uses the same engine, but that engine is built-in), so downloading and installing Camera Raw 11.1 will not cause your very old Lightroom 4.4 to support this camera. The only thing you could do is download the latest version of Adobe DNG Converter. Convert the raw files to DNG with this application, then import those DNG files in Lightroom.

I checked Adobe support and my camera is listed in the list of supported cameras.

It is supported by Lightroom 8.1. It is not supported by 4.4.

    Cameras supported by Camera Raw

    So you have three choices

    1. Subscribe to the Photography plan which includes Lightroom Classic CC 8.1
    2. Download the FREE Adobe DNG Converter, and use that to convert your RAWs to DNG, which can then be imported into LR 4.4
    3. Use the softwarew which comes with your camera to convert the RAW to TIF  and import the TIF into LR 4.4
