Lightroom 5 Unable to upload CR2 files from Canon 80D

Hi,

After upgrading my camera to a Canon EOS 80D I am unable to upload CR2-files in Lightroom (version 5.0). I have been able to upload CR2-files from an older EOS 60D. So, do anyone know if CR2-files are different depending on camera model, and thus require different LR versions?

Thanks!

The 80D requires Lightroom 6.5 or above.  You can also convert your files to DNG using the free DNG converter for use in Lr5.

Exactly right.

See Cameras supported by Camera Raw

The 60D was first supported by Lightroom 3.2. So, no problem in Lightroom 5.

The 80D was first supported by Lightroom 6.5. So Lightroom 5 will never be able to import those CR2 files.

Options:

  1. Subscribe to Lightroom CC and open the 80D files in CC or Classic CC, or
  2. Download the free DNG converter and convert all 80D CR2 files to DNG format. Then open the DNG files (not the Raw CR2 files) in Lightroom 5.
