Lightroom 6.14 import problems

I recently got a new computer and have been having problems importing files into lightroom.   I'm trying to import about 100 files and it either imports just a few files (2 to 5) or it gets stuck and just perpetually says "Importing Files...".  Lightroom doesn't freeze, I can still jump to the developer window and my library but the import just gets stuck.  I have to exit lightroom and reopen to try the import again.

I'm using version 6.14 and camera raw 10.1. I'm running windows 10 with 16GB of memorey and a 256 GB SSD with 60gb of free space. The files I'm importing are from a Canon EOS 80D and are being imported from the hard drive. I've already uninstalled and reinstalled lightroom and have tried disabling the "use graphics processor" setting.

So, the photos are already on the hard drive?

In your import. This is an ADD (reccomended) Not a Copy?

Are you using the Add option at the top of the import dialog window? You should be. But as stated above you are getting Really Low on disk (SSD) space.

I am using the Add option, I will try to free up some space by moving files to my EHD to see if that solves the problem. Thanks

This may or may not be the source of the problem. But you are getting very close to having a full SSD drive. Typically, your operating system needs approximately 20%-25% free disk space to operate efficiently, and you are getting very close to that limit. You might consider getting an external hard drive and moving your photo library to that EHD to give your system some breathing room.

Thanks for the recommendation on freeing up some space, I hadn't realized I needed to keep that much space open. I will try moving some more files to my external hard drive to see if freeing up some space fixes the problem
