Lightroom 6.9 (desktop) Slideshow Export does nothing: any workarounds?

I have updated my desktop version of Lightroom to v6.9, but the Slideshow "Export Video..." still does not work. A progress bar appears at the upper left, but no progress is reported, and Task Manager shows Lightroom using something like 0.4% of CPU time (i.e. it is not working very hard on the export).

Any suggestions or workarounds?

I am exporting a 720p video of about 82 photos set to an 8 minute music track.

Exported my first slide (which was taken in Portrait orientation, then cropped to a Landscape orientation),
then re-imported it (now as a Landscape orientation original),
then adding it to my Collection,
then moving it to the first position,
then Export Video...

It worked!

If I copy my collection to a new collection, delete the first photo in the collection (which was taken in Portrait orientation, then cropped to Landscape), I can export to video successfully.

If I add the first photo back to the collection, then move it to be #1 in the collection, then try to export to video, the export does nothing.

I would like to keep my first photo... so, perhaps I will try exporting it, and using the exported version.
