Lightroom 6 runs runs very slow during multiple batch export
Quick system specs: HP OMEN desktop, Win10, Intel i9 3.6GHz processor, 32GB RAM, 1TB M.2 drive, 2560x1440 screen. Lightroom 6.14
This is a typical case of "it worked before, now I'm having major trouble". 🙂
After finishing a wedding, I would stack multiple export jobs. I'd export all the ~800 pictures in 2 batches (first half and second half, trying to maximize the processor cores), then export the blog images (~200 images) then export the same blog images with a watermark (~200 pictures). So I've had anywhere from 4-6 export jobs running at once. No problem, computer crunched away and a half an hour later everything is complete.
Now I'm having the issue where after I start the first export, Lightroom locks up pretty hard so I can barely select the second set of images and begin a second export. If I'm lucky and can get the second export going, there's no way I can get a 3rd or 4th one going. LR just locks up too much. The weird part is the export is still going on in the background no problem. As soon as the export finishes, all is well and I can continue doing whatever I want in LR. But during the export, even clicking a new picture barely loads.
The rest of the computer runs fine during the export. I get a touch of lag just because of how processor-heavy the export job is, but for the most part, I don't notice any issues.
At first I thought it was because I kept one master LR catalog per year that had ballooned to over 30k images. But created a new catalog and still had the same issue. Even uninstalled LR and reinstalled with no benefit.
I've followed all the "optimize LR" tips around (keeping files on the same HD, optimize catalog, increase cache size, etc). But any idea what's causing this and how do I fix it?
Thank you!
