Lightroom 9.1 crashing on import since Catalina 10.15.2 Update

Hi!

Since updating to Catalina all my imports crash. I tried to import from card directly and by copying to disk first. I use copy as DNG and it creates the folder and also all dng files correctly. But as soon I select that folder in LR the programm stucks. Nothing helps to bring it back to live. Closing LR is also only possible by using alt-command-esc. After closing it that way its impossible to start it again without restarting the macbook. After the restart, LR works without any problems and can also open the folder created by the stuck import without any issues. I´m using Lightroom 9.1 with macOS 10.15.2. My catalog and images are on a Samsung T5. Any ideas on that?

Try resetting the Lightroom preferences:

No such issues on this end with Catalina.

Hi! Thanks for your recommendations. Turning off the GPU did not work but resetting Lightroom preferences seem to work. At least the first import worked fine. Thx.

Seems I had been glad already too early. Maybe it has something to do with a number of images imported!? The first import with 78 images was ok. The last one with 157 today had crashed the system again. Any ideas on that?

Hi there,

Sorry to hear about Lightroom crashing, have you tried turning off the GPU option from Lightroom's preferences? Go to Lightroom > Preferences > Performance tab > Uncheck "Use Graphics Processor" > Restart Lightroom.

Sahil
