Lightroom Adaptive subject presets no longer work

I upgraded to Lightroom Classic version 13-3 today.  Adaptive subject presets no longer work.  Selecting subject or background from the create new mask menu also does not work, yet all were working yesterday prior to upgrading Lightroom today.  I have Windows 10 O.S. on a desktop pc.  Is there a solution to get these working again?

I am having exact same issue. None of my masks work. Pain  [abuse removed by moderator] because you can't roll back with the updated catalogue.

Your previous catalog should still be in the Lightroom folder alongside the new catalog. That is, unless you deleted it.

So that we can get a better idea of what might be causing your issue, please provide a copy of your System Info. This can be obtained from the LrC Help > System Info menu item.

I have got mine working again. I deleted LR app and everything in the library (mac) that was related to Lightroom. Restarted my Macbook and now its working.

Try to reset the preferences to the default settings by doing the following steps:

  • Close Lightroom.
  • Windows: Hold down [Alt]+[Shift] while restarting Lightroom.
Mac: Hold down [Opt]+[Shift] while restarting Lightroom.
  • Overwrite the Preferences when prompted by the dialog.
  • Close Lightroom.
  • Restart Lightroom.

It's recommended to backup your preferences before you reset the preferences to the default settings:

What does it mean "... no longer work..."? Do you get an error message? Is there an wrong selection or no selection?

Prior to the upgrade, hovering the mouse over one of the adaptive presets for subject, such as pop or cool soft, etc., would produce a result that could then be chosen and modified, or simply not used.  After the upgrade, hovering the mouse over these presets causes a dialogue box "detecting" to briefly appear, then disappear with no change to the appearance of the subject.  Further, selecting a new mask, and then subject also produces no results for a subject, or background.  I tested this on images that are similar to ones that I processed in weeks past for where I was able to isolate the subject by selecting mask, and then subject, and now when I go to a very similar unprocessed image of the same seen, Lightroom will not select subject or background.  Frustrating.
