Lightroom always defaults to showing the mask overlay now

Now in addition to the bug where it won't remember whether I prefer to start a radial mask inverted or not, all masks always show the mask overlay until it's turned off, then again the next time the panel is opened and a mask is created, or a preset mask is selected. Always the overlay mask comes back.

It's incredibly frustrating because I hardly ever use the mask overlay and nothing gets it to remember that the default state should be off.

Someone tell me there's a solution to this. The inversion state of the radial mask has cost me so much time and I've had to hack my workflow to pieces to save those clicks and keystrokes, and it's insanely frustrating that it seems to be happening again with the mask overlay...
