Lightroom Book Module: Photo Text and Page Text

I have been struggling for years to find a way of assuring that all photo text is uniform through the entire book.  Doing this manually is inicredibly time consuming and not ideal.

I would also like to ensure continuity of page text throughout.  {The size of the font will be different to that of photo text}.

I understand I should be able to select all text by going into 'Edit'.  However, I'm unable to make thiis function work and every photo text box defaults back to another setting.

I would welcome a solution.  FYI I'm using a mac computer.

Greetings @Aleke

I do appreciate your input.

I have updated Lightroom Classic and am now running version 14.5.1.

I am very hesitant to reset Lightroom preferences so I have held off doing this for the time being.

The update seems to have fixed the issue of the photo text defaulting back to other random fonts, colours and sizes.  They are now all standardised to my liking.  The one thing that is not being included in this 'edit' all text is the text offset.  I would like this to be 2 and every text box is defaulting to 9.

I hope I won't have to manually change all the offsets for photo text boxes.

I'd welcome your feedback.

Wth thanks.

Hi @ZdeC14895218, welcome to the community!
Could you share a few more details about the issue you're seeing? What version of Lightroom Classic are you using? And what happens when you go to Edit > Select All Text Cells and then try changing the font size in the Type panel? Do you get an error message, or does the change just not show up?
As a first step, I’d recommend resetting your Lightroom Classic preferences, it can often help clear up unexpected behavior. Here’s a guide that walks you through it:

Thanks again, and let me know how it goes!

I make numerous photo books every year and am always frustrated that I have not found an efficient way of editing text throughout a book.

Ideally, I would like the following text to be standardised:

  • photo text {small font size}
  • page text {slightly larger font size}
  • page number {smaller font size and lighter colour}

The size of the text on the cover and spine would need to be slightly larger.

In order to achieve the required text size/colour/font I have experimented with countless different options in the book settings panel on the right hand side.

I’ve tried:

  • using presets but the presets constantly revert to default settings
  • using customised pages but the text settings do not appear to save with the customised page

I therefore have to manually input the text size/colour/font every time I add photo text or page text.  This is hugely time consuming and very frustrating.   Shouldn’t it be possible to some how save these in settings/presets.

I have found no tutorials that effectively cover the text options when making books.  {There are a couple of videos out there but they don’t cover the issues that I have}.

I’ve even found that when chooses a size/colour and font for pages throughout the book, some times the odd page has a totally different look.   This means that when proofreading the book every aspect of text be in photo, page or page number has to be carefully scrutinised for consistency.  This isn’t ideal.   A trustworthy way of saving these setting would be highly beneficial.

Any assistance with savings text presets would be greatly appreciated.

With thanks.  ZzdC
