  • Issue: When customer makes a change to Metadata in Bridge to a JPG file that already exists in Lightroom Classic Catalog the Metadata change icon should appear in Lightroom.
  • Problem Created: Customer has no way of knowing that the image on his screen in Lightroom Classic Catalog is wrong and needs to be updated.
  • This problem does NOT occur when the image is a RAW file. The icon DOES appear.
  • Customer must sync the file in Lightroom for Icon to appear.
  • Article: Advanced metadata actions: States the following definition for the icon:
    Message: “Metadata Was Changed Externally”.
Indicates metadata changes made to the photo in an external application and not applied in Lightroom Classic. https://helpx.adobe.com/in/lightroom-classic/help/advanced-metadata-actions.html
  • Perform test. Add JPG file to Lightroom Classic catalog.  Open Bridge, select that file, File on main menu/File Info/Enter Keyword change to the proper area (i.e. “Does icon appear? Keyword from Bridge”)/ok. Return to lightroom and the Keyword does not appear and the icon does not appear.  Customer must sync the file for these two things to happen.
  • This problem does not happen when the source file is a RAW file.
