Lightroom Catalog Mix Up

I've got myself into a bit of a pickle with Lightroom.  I opened it today and up popped message saying that there was a catalog update.  I just clicked the button and it updated but then when it opened, there were no images.  Google told me that I shouldn't have just gone ahead with the update as I did.

Then to further complicate things I realised that the catalog that I've been using is in OneDrive.  All of the catalogs that I have seem to be under the same name so I'm now confused how to identify which is the correct catalog and how to get it all connected again.  Honestly no idea how it ended up on OneDrive.

Please can anyone help me unravel this issue?

You have (accidentally) upgraded the wrong catalog file. You need to find the proper catalog file and upgrade that. You can use your operating system to search all disks and OneDrive for files whose name ends with .LRCAT. The largest one is most likely (but no guarantee) to be the catalog file you want to upgrade. To upgrade this catalog, double-click on it and you will get the question asking if you want to upgrade, and then you should do the upgrade.

Google told me that I shouldn't have just gone ahead with the update as I did.

This is just plain wrong.

Adding, keeping catalog files on OneDrive (or in a local folder linked to OneDrive) has been known to cause problems, and should be avoided.
