Lightroom catalog won't open

When I try to open Lightroom classic on my desktop it gives me this error.Lightroom cannot create or open a catalog name LightroomCatalog-2-2-v10v11-v12-v13-v13-4-2" on volume local disk (C:) because the preview cache paths would exceed the maximum path length for your platform.

How do I go about fixing this problem

Hey there! I am sorry for your loss. Renaming a catalog is easy, let me help you get started.

Before you start making changes, please read this FAQ about the Lightroom Classic Catalog.

Now, the name of your catalog is lengthy. The location where the catalog is stored will also have other support files with the same initial name. In the following screenshot, I have a catalog named May 2023, you'll notice other files have the same intials.

You must rename all the files that have 'Lightroom Catalog-2-2-v10-v11-v12-v13-v13-4-3' in their title.

Make sure to retain 'Previews' in the preview cache files. For example, for 'May 2023 Previews.lrdata' is renamed to 'Test 2024 Previews.lrdata'.

Let me know if this helps. Thanks!

Try to remane your catalog by following the steps from the linked document in the section "To rename the catalog:"

How do I find and move or rename my catalog? | The Lightroom Queen

Keep the name as short as possible. For example:  MyPictues.lrcat

In which folder structure your catalog is located? Which operating system do you use?

    My System: Intel i7-8700K - 64GB RAM - NVidia Geforce RTX 3060 - Windows 11 Pro 25H2 -- LR-Classic 15 - Photoshop 27 - Nik Collection 8 - PureRAW 6 - Topaz Photo AI

When I went to try and open up lightroom again, it opened but now all my recent photos are not in the catalog. If I try and choose the latest one it give me a message

Lightroom cannot launch with this catalog. It is either on a network volume or a volume on which lightroom cannot save changes.

The catalogs location is C:\Users\SGMIL\Pictures\lightroom\Lightroom catalog backup aug 2021\2021-08-01 0909\Lightroom

    Catalog-2-2-v10.lrcat\Lightroom

    Catalog-2-2-v10-v11-v12-v13-v13-4-3.lrcat.

I never had a chance to rename the catalog. It just launched.

I am so lost. I have never dealt with any of this before. My husband was the primary acct holder and he died a few months ago.

    Please help.

in the future, to find the best place to post your message, use the list here, https://community.adobe.com/

p.s. i don't think the adobe website, and forums in particular, are easy to navigate, so don't spend a lot of time searching that forum list. do your best and we'll move the post (like this one has already been moved) if it helps you get responses.

    Thank you.
I’m hoping someone will be able to assist me. My husband died in January
and I am muddling along trying to figure this out. He always took care of
    any issues with lightroomand photoshop.
