Lightroom CC Classic 7.3.1 not responding during image file move

Question

I'm in the process of relocating 128,000+ images from an external hard drive to the iMac internal hard drive, using the standard Lightroom drag-and-drop feature. Over 110,000 image files have relocated successfully but Lightroom has now stopped responding. I'm not sure what to do as I fear force quitting the app may lead to problems. Any help would be much appreciated.

I'm afraid the two choices are: continue to wait, or shut down LR.

In the future, moving large amount of files should be done via your operating system, and then reconnect in Lightroom following these instructions (see "Part 2 — Updating Folder Location") Adobe Lightroom - Find moved or missing files and folders
