Lightroom CC Classic crashes during import

Please Help:

I just upgraded to Lightroom CC Classic from Version 4. During the import of files, the program crashes at random times. I normally download files from two different cameras (1DX and 1DX MK II) to a folder on my desktop and then import that folder to LR.

I have also upgraded the Mac OS as well to High Sierra.

I've had several crashes and sent one crash report to adobe with my e-mail and a detailed explanation of what I was doing.

I’m having the same problem. Right now I’m making sure my IOS is completely up to date. Adobe need to  take a close look at this.

And that’s if I can get Lightroom to even open.

I have the same problem...I noticed that if I allow the thumbnail previews to populate fully, it doesn't crash.  If I just select a folder and hit import before they are ALL displayed, it will crash.

LR Classic keeps crashing, even after display of all thumbnails in import dialog...

BTW, I have Version 4.3.0.256 of creative cloud. These crashes are very frustrating considering LR 4 had never crashed in the years I used it. I'm getting really behind in my editing work. Can someone give me some ideas what to check. It would be very helpful.

    Hi Randall,

Have you tried to update to Lightroom Classic CC directly from the browser rather than with CCM? If not here is the link. Scroll down

    Thanks you for helping cmgap:

I closed out all programs including CC Manager. I rebooted the computer and tried importing again.

Lightroom crashed about 3/4 through the process.

The crashes are sporadic sometimes coming at the very beginning of the import and sometimes at the very end. I few have when through without a problem.

I did copy the crash report and sent to adobe.

Sorry 256 gigs of HD space.

CC manager was updated and installed before LR CC Classic was installed.

    Thanks for the info.

Have you signed out completely of all apps including CCM, shut down and rebooted since the crashes?

    16 gigs of ram

    156 gigs of HD space

I'm not sure with CC manager? (How do you tell)

Images are on an external HD and it is connected.

I have a copy of the crash report but it is a big document.

In reading other forum questions, I tried disabling the Graphics Processor in the performance preference tab.

    Hi Randall,

    A few things to eliminate...

How much RAM is installed on your mac and how much free disk space is available?

What version of CC Manager are you running?

    Which plan do you have?

Have you signed out completely of all apps including CCM, shut down and rebooted since the crashes?

Are any of the images in your catalog on an external drive? If yes, is the drive(s) connected?

Can you post the detailed explanation here?
