Lightroom CC Classic HEIF Workflow Question

Hi - I didn't renew my subscription when it was up for renewal awhile back but am thinking about signing up again and had a workflow question.

On my iPhone, I use the HEIF (HEIC) format and want to understand how (and if) I can edit them with LR CLASSIC.

I know the new LR CC mobile version & PS (desktop I presume) support them, but will I be able to edit them on my Mac in Classic? Will the desktop CC program open them? Could I sync an album (collection) over from CC and edit them in classic? Can I re-write back to the HEIF or does it create a different format?

I'd like to be able to write keywords & IPTC info to the file and also edit the files. Is this even possible? Thanks in advance!

    Every iteration of Lr accepts, either from Adding to Lr Web or Lr CC Desktop and by Import for Lr classic, LEIF files as ,jpg.

    Take a look at these screen shots.

    As we see, every Lr converts LEIF to jpg.

    I just shot a photo of my keyboard for testing. Even getting it into the Apple Mac system converts it to jpg.

    Syncing a HEIF file to iCloud and/or to Creative Cloud on Mac produce .png on both.

    I haven't found a way to even get an HEIF image file off my iPhone as such.

    From within Lr Mobile app trying to Export Original, picking a location, does nothing. File goes nowhere.

    From within Lr Mobile app using 'Save To Files' sends a .jpg to the chosen location.

    You can Airdrop them to a MacOS laptop or desktop and they retain the HEIF format (file extension .HEIC)
