Lightroom CC Develop module not responding

Hello! I am having a major issue with the develop module. Making event he slightest change to any of the sliders causes the screen to crash. I get the dreaded (Not responding)  message and I have to wait for what seems to be an eternity for the system to recover and make the changes. I have a very powerful computer and none of my other programs (Including Photoshop) has any problems. Has anyone else experienced this issue? and more importantly, if so, what can I do to get this back to normal? Thank you!

    Hello there!

I had the same issue until I followed these steps and the crashing stopped:

    1. Go to "C:\Users\$USER\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Lightroom\Preferences" and open "Lightroom Classic CC 7 Preferences.agprefs" in Notepad.
    2. Scroll all the way down to the bottom, or hit Ctrl+F and search for "useAutoBahn" (without quotes).
    3. Then replace true with false. Save the file (make sure not to change the file extension), then reopen Lightroom.
    4. Fingers crossed, it should load up without running the Graphics Card Acceleration, and you will be able to carry on as you did before.

I hope this is useful for someone else too!

    Regards.

    1. Try unchecking the option Preferences > Performance > Use Graphics Processor.

    2. Do Help > System Info and verify you have the latest version of LR CC (2015.12).  If you don't, then update to that version: Keeping Lightroom Up-to-Date

    3. If you're on Windows, update your graphics hardware's driver by doing directly to the manufacturer's Web site: Adobe Lightroom GPU Troubleshooting and FAQ

    Hello John,

    thank you for the reply.

I have done each of the items you mentioned with no real luck.

its brutal trying to edit a wedding with 3-4K images having to wait for the system to respond.

One question about my config. I have an internal SSD (other than my system drive) where I house my RAW files and another SSD  that I use for the catalog and scratch disk. Is this optimal? or is there a better way to set it up?

    thank you in advance!

    Hi,

I'm not sure about the crashing, but I would say your best bet with the Catalog and Scratch disk would be to have them on your "C:" drive. Having the actual files on an external SSD should be perfectly fine. This is how I have my setup and it works great. And every now and then I back up my catalog onto the external SSD.

    Hope this helps a little.
