Lightroom CC won't import images

I just upgraded to lightroom CC from lightroom 5 and it won't import my images.  It shows a preview of them, but when I click import is says "importing images" but it never does and just sits like that.  Any ideas?  Thanks in advance.

HI everyone,

Sorry for the import issues with Lightroom, please check this thread and follow the instructions - Lightoom 6.3: After update I can't open any video files

...in the import dialog it says "already imported", but the photos do not show up in the catalog and cannot be viewed in the library module.

Please follow these 4 steps in order

  1. In the Lightroom Library Module, on the left under Catalog, click on All Photographs
  2. Turn off all Filters (Ctrl-L once or twice until the message "Library Filters Off" appears)
  3. Expand all stacks (photo->Stacking->Expand All Stacks)
  4. search for one of these "already imported" files by file name, using the Lightroom Filter Bar

Thank you dj_paige, but the problem remains:

- filters are turned off

- if I try to syncronize the folder it says "No photos or videos were found to import." All the photos are stored on a hard drive and can be accessed via the mac finder.

- if i try to import it says already imported.

- update folder location does not change the situation neither.

Once again I have the same problem. LR CC simply won't import files. Here are the suggestions, Adobe has presented to me: This is a problem with my account (changed creditcard), it because LR doesn't support Imac 5K, it's a wellknown problem and Adobe will soon come up with a fix for this. The supporters has spent hours on my computer (they are very helpful, I must give them that) - creating new catalogues and so on. One supporter solved my problem by deleting all my precious plugins and settings. And that actually helped. But now I am back. Please Adobe - it is hard enough to live as a photographer without having to deal with crappy software.

I no longer accept it when people say "same problem". I do not know that you have the same problem, because you haven't described the problem you are having. Please describe the problem in detail. Lots of detail. If there are error messages, please quote the exact complete unedited word-for-word error message. Show screen captures of the problem.

The problem may be that the folder you chose as the destination is not the right one. That was my problem...I created a new destination folder and made sure I chose it.

I too cannot import it seems reliably. It worked the first time with under a hundred photographs. I didn't get this subscription for photoshop which I own. This has been a real problem. I am using latest Mac OS X and latest Lightroom. Message on screen is that files are uploading but in fact nothing is happening. Please tell me someone is working on this.

Having same problems here too.

I have Lightroom CC 5.7.1 (as I still have a 32-bit system with Windows 7  which precludes using LR6). Import seems to have stopped working after I tried importing from my Android phone connected to a USB port on the PC.

I've tried switching off and rebooting PC, using system restore to restore it to an earlier date and finally removed & then reinstalled Lightroom all without joy.

I can't import files from either a card reader or form folders on my hard drive - I click on a folder, sometimes momentarily see the 'spinning wheel' in the bottom left corner of the LR screen but nothing happens, I don't even see thumbnails.

As even the reinstall failed to resolve the issue, I'm at a dead-end and paying for a program that won't work - not impressed Adobe!

So Les_Cornwell

There are like a dozen suggestions on what to try already in this thread. Did you try any of them?

Did you try unplugging the Android phone?

Did you make sure the Destination Panel is present on the right hand side and expanded?

After reinstall 3 times, run as admin and give full control permition with no results I tried to remove all movie files ( *.mov *.mpeg *.avi ) and it works ok !
I hope it could help you !

I keep returning to this thread in the hope that an answer will appear. I have tried all suggestions and still have the same issue on my Mac Air and Mac desktop.  I am unable to use Lightroom 5 either so am completely frustrated.

This describes my problem:

I'm having the same exact issues as ddawg05. I recently upgraded to Lightroom 6, and since then I have not been able to import images. I get screens that look just like the ones ddwag05 uploaded. I have tried rebooting my Mac, I have tried rebooting Lightroom, and nothing is working. I do get to see the preview photos, but once I click "import," I don't see them again. I gave it quite a long time, thinking maybe Lightroom 6/CC just takes longer, but the progress bar isn't showing any movement. It just gets stuck in one place, about 1/4 of the way over from the left, and stops. Any suggestions would be helpful. I have the same things plugged into my USB ports that I always have plugged in. Why would there be a problem now after I have been using Lightroom for years? It sounds like there is a glitch in Lightroom, and the suggestions are Adobe's way of getting around the glitch. Is Adobe working on a permanent fix for this issue? And, by the way, EVERYTHING takes longer in Lightroom 6/CC. Very frustrating. You expect upgrades to improve software, not take it a step back.

I can confirm that removing video files from import media/folder will remedy most import issues.  I wrestled with this for 2 days and finally read this thread...and removing video files worked for me.  To clarify...don't attempt to bring video into LR6 until they have an update that fixes this glaring issue.  Only import still images will import smoothly.

I have the same problem using Lightroom cc 2015 and Win 10.  Every time I select an image and click on Develop the program hangs and I have to quit Lightroom.  I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling Lightroom but that didn't work.  I could really do with a constructive response from Adobe.

If you are having a problem getting into the develop module (as opposed to importing which is what we have been discussing), please put that in a separate thread.

Nice that Adobe is basically not present for the discussion of their product. Great job, Adobe. Really spending the wheel barrows of cash your monopoly positions bring you. Deplorable.

I was unable to import images into Lightroom from a folder on my hard drive even after reboot.  I had my Sony Nex5 charging from a USB port on PC.  When I disconnected the camera, Lightroom was able to import the images from the hard drive.  Not sure why having a camera charging from a USB affects importing from a hard drive...
