Lightroom classic 14.0 crash (preview cache error)
I bought a backup SSD external hard drive a few months ago (Samsung 2TB T9) for all my photos and when I first was using it, it seemingly worked fine. But after a few weeks of usage (after the Lightroom Classic 14.0 update) my PC tells me there is an error with the drive and that it needs to be repaired. Lightroom gives me an error as well saying that the folder I'm currently looking at photos in is "unavailable" and that it will use the pictures folder on my PC (which I've imported nothing into Lightroom from). It gives me this error every time I launch Lightroom from the SSD after about 5 minutes and I'm not sure why. After being prompted with that error, Lightroom also says that it "encountered an error when reading from its preview cache and needs to quit". My PC also tells me that there is a problem with the drive and that it needs to be scanned and repaired. After scanning and repairing, it usually says that there were no problems with the drive. So why would it give me an error in the first place? Before using the T9, I've been using an HDD USB 3.0 1TB hard drive as my main storage for my photos, and I wanted to upgrade to the SSD and use the HDD as a backup since it's newer technology and supposedly more reliable. I haven't had any problems with the HHD, but I understand that having a backup for all your photos is crucial, which was why I purchased the T9 in the first place, but now I've been stuck with using the HDD as my main storage again. When I bought the T9, I just copied everything from the HDD onto it, so I'm using the same catalog. I run Lightroom on an Asus Tuf gaming A15 laptop (AMD Ryzen 5 4600H with Radeon Graphics 3.00 GHz w/ 32 GB RAM) running Windows 10 (as I see no real need to upgrade to Windows 11). I would also like to note that I am a student and whenever using the Macs on campus Lightroom has no problems whatsoever when using the T9, which leads me to assume that it is a problem with my PC instead of the drive. I'm not very tech savvy and maybe I shouldn't have just copied everything over from one drive to another but I honestly don't know what the issue could be. This is a pretty specific scenario but would anyone be able to help me? Any help is appreciated
