Lightroom Classic 14.4: Arrow key changes Filmstrip selection but preview doesn't update

Issue: In both the Develop and Library modules, using the left/right arrow keys sometimes changes the selected thumbnail in the Filmstrip, but the main preview does not update accordingly.

Provide Lightroom Classic version: Lightroom Classic version 14.4 [Camera Raw 17.4]

Provide OS and version: macOS Sonoma v. 14.7.5 (23H527)

Steps to reproduce the behavior:

  1. Open Lightroom Classic and go to either the Develop or Library module.
  2. Use the left or right arrow keys to move through the photos.
  3. Occasionally, the thumbnail selection in the Filmstrip changes, but the preview stays stuck on the previous image, especially when the image has undergone adjustments.
  4. Pressing the arrow key again forces the preview to refresh and show the correct image. Once the correct image is displayed, I can then go back (or forward, depending on which arrow key was initially pressed) and see the proper image preview as expected.

Expected result: The preview should always update immediately to match the selected thumbnail in the Filmstrip when navigating with arrow keys.

Actual result: The preview sometimes fails to update, leading to a mismatch between the selected thumbnail in the Filmstrip and the displayed image until the arrow key is pressed again.

This behavior occurs both with and without "Soft Proof" enabled.

Hi @GNBeraldo! Thanks so much for reaching out and for sharing all those details.

Just to make sure I understand, when you say the preview gets stuck, does it stay frozen indefinitely, or just for a few seconds? Does it only happen when moving with the arrow keys or do you notice the same behavior when clicking on a different photo? If you’re able to share a screen recording of what’s happening, that would be super helpful for us to take a closer look.

Appreciate it!
